Introduction
Locate Survey Marks (Survey Marks Enquiry Service or SMES) is the way to access Survey Mark Details for Victoria.
Locate Survey Marks is used by the surveying and spatial industries to access and manage the survey mark information held in Vicmap Control - SMES.
There are approximately 135,000 permanent survey marks (PM)
and 40,000 primary cadastral marks (PCM) (at July 2010).
Information includes:
- Latest coordinate and height values (resulting from on-going adjustments);
- PM sketch plans;
- Text searching tools;
- Interactive Map search interface;
- Printing of coordinate, sketch plan and map base reports;
Vicmap Control provides coordinate information on both "The Geocentric Datum of Australia 1994" (GDA)
and "The Australian Geodetic Datum of Australia 1966" (AGD).
Since 2001, GDA has been adopted as the default coordinate datum used by Victorian Government departments for spatial databases.
